Holding it...

How is that we as adults are potty trained? What is it that makes us hold it in? Ok..I know the medical reasons..I think? And what is so scary about a toilet? The infamous little blue seat sits in front of the tv..she may sit on it whenever she wants...I offer reading material..treats...money...and one more question..if she can hold it long enough for me to put on a diaper..is she potty trained...and just smarter than her mommas??

found napkins...with something special on them..

Dear Molly Ann-
It is the night before I am going to the hospital to deliver you...I am sitting here alone, your dad is at work...I wonder what he is thinking about right now. I would be lying if I didn't say that I wasn't nervous...all I can think about is seeing you..seeing your face..I am so happy that this day is finally here. I hope that you come early so I can see your pretty face...know that I love you and can't wait to see you..
Love-
your mommas

Dear Molly Ann-
You came into our lives today! It is late right now, I just had our cute nurse take you to the nursery..dad went home to sleep...and all I can think about is you...we waited all day for you to come...Dr. England broke my water at 8am...I was dilated to an eight by noon..and got an epidural about a half hour later...you finally decided to come out at 9:43pm at night..what I imagined to be so scary was surprisingly a really special experience...it was very calming to have just myself, your dad, and the cute nurse in the room...the Dr. made it minutes before you came and then it seemed like such a rush of people...emotions...and tears. I cried...I was so HAPPY..so SCARED...and so PROUD! What seemed to be a mad house within minutes was very quite and your dad..myself and you were alone...I remember looking at your dad he was just sitting on the edge of the bed looking at you..as I looked up at him..I started to cry..the love that he has for you will never fit into words..know that your dad will always love you and always be there for you..as will I. I can't wait to see your face in the morning...I love you!
Love-
your mommas

Do you know how to??

I drove down to Orem Thursday in the snow storm to test for my CNA certification...I had a skills test and then 100 question written test...I was a little nervous because I have been told that it is a really simple test..so I was trying not to be to confident..the women that tested me with my skills test was alot older than I would have expected..(seventies..?)..she told me to come in and sit down...she reached into her bag and pulled out a bag from 1980 and pulled out a mercury thermometer and told me to read it..excuse me...? I played stupid and told her that we had not been taught how to read a glass thermometer...(then I started thinking..or did we and I wasn't paying attention?)..she then proceeded to lecture me on how all CNA courses teach their students how to read one...so I again playing stupid said..ok..we'll let me look at it...she obviously thought I was taking to long and told me the answer..great missed one..the other 9 minutes that were spent with her were tense but I think I passed...the written was pretty easy..common sense...there were six questions on how to handle dentures...really? Brother..so I say today that it seems you would have to be stupid not to pass...but I may be choking on my words...(I'll let you know when the results are in...)

bad news...

Dear Annette,
I apologize for the delay you have experienced in our processing of your scholarship application. I just received notification today from the Administration at St. Mark's Hospital that due to financial constraints, the Hospital will not be able to fund additional scholarships recipients until Spring Semester 2010.

This is a great disappointment to me having worked with this program for the past 7 years and found it to be mutually beneficial to the Scholarship Recipients and the Hospital. I again apologize for the time you spent in submitting an application with the idea that your application would be considered; I had no idea that such a change in practice would occur.

I wish you the best in your pursuit of the nursing profession and know that great opportunities will be available to you because of your career choice.

Sincerely-
A really nice women...

Bummer..huh..Bart and I were so sure that this was really going to lift the financial burden of school...anyone want to hire me??

Why??

Through much thought and prayer I have decided to turn in a application to St. Mark's for a scholarship...if my application gets accepted I will have to sign a two year contract with them after I graduate..this was my response to the question...why should St. Mark's consider me for this scholarship..?

To Whom It May Concern:
I have patiently waited for two long years to be accepted into the nursing program at Salt Lake Community College. Being exposed in the short amount of time that I have been in the program to the nursing field, I now know more than ever that the wait was worth it. I spent nine Saturdays at St. Mark’s with my Medical-Surgical clinical and fell in love with the hospital. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff very much. I found the charting system to come to me easily and compared to other facilities, simple. I felt as though the hospital was very organized and clean.
One of the hurdles that I thought would be difficult to me would to be able to build report with the patients. As I stepped onto the floor and introduced myself to my first patient, I felt very comfortable. I amazed myself on how easy it was to build an instant relationship with someone I had met a few seconds prior. As I walked out of the room, I stopped to reflect of my own experiences as a patient and how I felt towards my nurses. I then and there made a promise to myself to make myself completely available and devoted to all patients whom I would come in contact with.
As I raise my little family and try to be the best mother and wife I can be, I think of the career choice that I have made to better our lives. I am pleased with myself that I have been able to prioritize school and my personal life thus far. I would be pleased to be considered for this scholarship opportunity and for the comfort of knowing that I would have a future with St. Mark’s and the financial burden to be waved from my adoring husband.
As my semesters continue and tests come and go, it is apparent to me that the when it comes down to it the patient is number one. I have no doubt in my mind and have proven to myself that my number one priority is the patient, their care, their safety, and most importantly their happiness. I would appreciate the opportunity to prove to St. Marks’ Hospital that I can and will put the patient first.
Thank you for your time-

Annette Barton

What would you give..?

The other night I went to my ward Christmas Party...gasp..heard round the world..yes I said WARD christmas party...I wanted Molly to see Santa and I know she wasn't going to be pleased with him...so I wasn't going to stand in line at the mall nor pay $30 for a picture..(way to go Jess for doing both..) but the cute primary kids put on a little program..and they asked what gift would you bring to Jesus..? side story..my mom gave me a statue years ago of Santa kneeling in front of baby Jesus...it lights up and I have it in Molly's room..so every night we turn it on and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus..I wish that she could tell me what she would give Jesus for his birthday...so back to my story...what would you give Jesus for his birthday...I would like my answer to be as simple as a hug...oh how my hug would tell him so much, though. I would give him a picture of my family...show him (although he would already know..) my beautiful daughter, my husband that loves me and two big families that mean the world to me...I truly believe that feelings of a higher being are very personal and can mean so many things...but I know that I am loved, thought of, thought after, and truly blessed because of...Jesus's birthday...merry christmas!

Are you kidding me..

Today I did the unthinkable..I was standing in front of a display of digital picture frames this morning at 03:30am...this was the first Black Friday that I went shopping..I refused to take a part of this horrid day sense I always had to work it at the malls..(thank god I quit the year they started the midnight shopping..)My sister was in charge of the portable DVD players and me the frames...so we text each other the whole time...I looked at my clock it was 04:40am we had 20 minutes to go and all the sudden it was as if the gun had been shot and we were off like horses..no more like ravishing dogs grabbing praying that we were getting what we had been so patiently waiting for...as I looked down I had three frames..I was off for a camcorder and as I turned around I see my sister out of the corner of my eye...grabbing two DVD players tucking them in and running..running for the touchdown..(the baby section..where we were meeting) I was able to grab my little camcorder and I was off...we met in the middle and started laughing...what the HELL just happened? It was not 05:00am...how did the pandemonium start?..did someone say GO?...my sister said it started in Toys I guess people were tired of waiting and started grabbing...and like the wave at a football game..the shelves were cleared within seconds and people empty handed looking around with a stupefied look on their face...it was a little satisfying seeing their faces and then looking down at my hands full of what they wanted...serves them right for not waking up at 3am and standing their like an idiot as I did...would I do it again??

And surprisingly...(to me)..I cried everytime! It was so amazing, I got to rub the babies, hold them, give them there shots..the best part was to see the dad's cry and hold them...they were all girls...next week I am at LDS and IMC...to finish up with the Nursey and Post-partum. After next week we are so close for this semster being over...I can't wait for a month off of school.

Update..

We'll I talked with my instructors yesterday at school and I was reminded that I am an adult(picture is of adults), a second semester nursing student, and that this was not there problem...ok, we'll I realize that...but I'm not sure where to go from here..so they gave me two options..to attend another clinical Friday at LDS or fail and repeat the course..uh duh..let's see...

I HaTe TeEthIng..

Molly is teething..both her and I are unhappy..we have a really good baby so when she is not being very good...(cause she is in pain..sad)..mom is very unhappy. She is up at night as soon as the motrin wears off...crying and grabbing her mouth...I wish there was something I could do...one has broke through but three more are on there way...one good thing I guess, is no slobber...

HaPpY HaLlOWeEn

We had such a fun halloween this year..I wanted Molly to be a lion and found the cutest costume but it was too small and it was the biggest it came in..so I searched for a costume online and found the peanut costume which I LOVED..I waited last minute to order and didn't get it until the night before...when we were in California my sister in law had a lion costume..so I took that just in case..we had a Halloween party at Bart's parents and all the kids dress up so we sqoze her in it for that..and then we went trunk or treating with my sister so I borrowed the cowgirl outfit from a girl at school..and then alas the peanut costume came..we couldn't have asked for better weather..Molly would take the candy and put it in her bucket and then I would say.."Say, thank you." and she would wave..she is so yummy!

Dear Molly Ann

Dear Molly Ann-
You are my absolute best friend. When I look at you my heart jumps and I smile. I love when you scrunch your face and start to laugh, I love that you love Cooter so much, I love that you cry when dad teases Cooter, I love that when dad comes home in the morning you won't give him the time of day until your cartoon is over and then you won't leave his side. I love that you kiss me and touch my face, I love when I have a long day at school and come home to find you and dad asleep together. I love that your first word was momma, and the second was 'Coo Coo' (cooter)...I love that you hug any and every doll and give them your binky and bottle. I love that you LOVE the green binky. I often wonder if your dad and I got married the first round what you would be like...you would be almost seven! Can you believe that! I want you to know how much I love your dad and I hope that you will marry someone just like him. In everything that he does he has you and me in mind, he misses you when he is at work and smiles so big when we go to see him, he is so proud of you and always talks about you. I hope that you will grow up to be a lovely, well behaved young girl. I want you to make the best decisions that you know how to and I promise to offer you every opportunity that is in my power. Know that you have many friends and family that love you as much as mom and dad do. Always know that your Heavenly Father loves you and watches you everyday and smiles with every grown up girl step you take. Never forget me or that I love you and am grateful that you in heaven chose me as your mommas.
Love-
your mom

THe HoT dOG thRoWer...

A little background to this story...my sophomore and junior year of high school two periods a day I would aide for the Special Ed class...so working in that class for two years all the kids had come to know me well...one of the boys that was in the class works at Petersen's and we always chat when we run into eachother....So the other day I dragged Bart to Wal-Mart to shop with me and we ran into one of my good friends..as we were standing there talking....this same boy walked past us and said...
Austin: "Oh hi Annette!"
me: "Hey, Austin..you work here too.."
Austin: "Yup, and the movie theaters.."
me: "Oh wow!.."
Austine: (looking at Bart) "You married him!!"
me: "Yes, I did.."
Austin: "Oh, does he throw hot dogs at you too?"
me: (mortified!!) "Yes..all the time!"
Austin: "Oh." (as he walks away..)
I looked over at Bart..completely embarrassed that my friend Amy was standing there for the whole conversation...
me: "Did you throw hot dogs at him?!?"
Bart: (embarrassed) "I honestly don't remember doing that?"
me: "One, people like that don't forget things..and two, that sounds like something you would do!"
Brother...I am glad that my husband is known as the hot dog thrower to the special ed class..great!! I swear my husband is inappropriate oh let's say 95% of the time..I guess that's why I LOVE him so much...

I am thinking...

So I was thinking the other day while cleaning out Molly's closet and packing up yet another bin of clothes to store downstairs that maybe it is pointless to keep all her clothes..some have special meaning..and some I just LOVE..but what about all the other stuff...I have spent alot of money on them..so I don't necessarily want to give them away..or sell them for super cheap..what do you think I should do??

Servers...

I took this straight from my sister-in-laws blog..she is a server and I completley agree..and let's be honest everyone should be tipping 20% these days....

Serving
I have worked a lot this weekend and have made some observations. Some I have noticed before, others just recently. Talking to my fellow servers, I think it important to note some dining out etiquette.
1. Standard tip should be a minimum of 15%, if your server does a good job, tip them more. 20% lets them know that your dining experience was a good one.
2. If you have teenagers, that are eating out without you there, they should know about rule number one.
3. If your food did not meet your satisfaction, you should tell your server about it, so they can get you something else, or try and fix it for you. If the server stops by your table and you say that your food is fine, then don't leave them a note on the credit card slip that it did not meet your expectations.
4. Don't punish your server because the food, was not cooked rare enough, well enough or somewhere in between, we don't cook the food. However, we can take it back and make them do it again. Which we will gladly do if you tell us about it (refer to #3).
5. If you come to a restaurant to eat, expect to talk to people, namely your server. Don't ignore them when they come to the table or tell them that they are bothering you. YOU sat down at the table to be served, expect some communication.
6. If you have toddler children with you, just because you are in a restaurant, doesn't give you a right to throw food on the floor and then walk on it when you leave.
7. If you eat out, expect to add a tip to the total, don't rack up the bill and then not tip accordingly because you don't have enough money.
8. Remember, that most servers like the job they have, including me, next to Cinnabon, I love my job! However, I work for $2.13 and hour and tips make or break my shift.
9. Servers enjoy being treated like a person, we can make your dining experience enjoyable if you give us the chance.
10. If you eat our regularly, or if you have a server that you like, ask for them, it is a compliment that you would want them as your server again. And if you have one of those annoying but informative surveys on your receipt, take it, mention your servers name, tell the higher ups that we did a good job. We get rewarded for those things, and most of the time you get free food when you come back.
Alright, it was meant to be informative, not a rant, but it probably came across as both. But, if you learned something pass it on. Happy Dining :)!!!!

oNe of the SWEET nEcTaRS of LIFE....

Those of you who know me well will find this post a little silly...oh ever sense the beginning of time I have had sinus infections I swear once a month..some how I came across some afrin to clear my nose out and I found one of the sweetest nectar's of life (along with Dr.Pepper..) we'll if any of you know you are not suppose to use afrin more than three days in a row because your nose can get used to it and fill up on purpose because it knows your going to spray the sweet..sweet nectar up there...we'll that's nice and all but I use it everyday all day at least 20 times a day when I have a cold..(and sometimes even when I don't have a cold...) it has gotten to the point that when I drop it in my nose (because I won't spray it in..that's barbaric..Kiersten) as soon as I'm done I have to pinch my nose because of this sweet burning sensation almost as if I have singed my nose hairs...after unpinching the nose I have to check for bleeding (because that has happened before..) But within seconds I am breathing like a champ!! Along with the sinus infections my right eye always plugs up, swells shut and oozes this green stuff...which will seal it shut at night..(pretty huh..) so in my family we have come up with the saying..oh you have Quasimodo eye again?? My niece as we speak has had her first run in with Quasimodo eye..welcome to the club Kitty..Molly and I both have stuffy noses, I can't wait until she can appreciate the sweet burn of Afrin like her mom....goodnight...

Sleep Blogging...

I'm sleep blogging I am so tired on the verge of tears and can't seem to stop looking on the internet. I have just hit send on my first care plan for the semester and I do not feel good about it. I have been at St. Mark's for the past two weeks and have felt as though I just stood around for the entire 12 hour shifts. My care plan was due at 6pm tonight and yes it is not 12:15am...I can't believe that I turned an assignment in late..Bart and I went to Logan today to see the new edition to the Barton Family and you would have thought we were in a different world up there..no where could I find Internet and when I did find it I had to pay and when I went to pay their server was down..go figure..a college town!! Brother..so I finally quit trying and enjoyed the company of family. Early pregnancy tests suck..I have taken three and there is a definite no mark and a squiggly mark on the yes..or just a speck of hope...but alas I am learning patients and just waiting..after Bart saw our new nephew today..he said I don't know I am on the fence..see he wants another too...we have been unofficially trying for the last six months and each month my heart is broken over and over...I swear I sneezed and got pregnant with Molly..it's so frustrating..it's nothing like trying for years and I am thankful for my sweet pumpkin but momma wants to smell the new baby smell again...I need to go to bed..I have a huge test on Monday and I need to prepare to study all day tomorrow...good night.

Summer fun...

We have been busy this summer...and it is really sad to see it end..Molly and I went to the Zoo with some friends and had super fun...it was hot and she seemed to like it and noticed all the animals...it was FUN! We went to see my grandpa's this week in Heber..my grandpa carves these wood heads to pass his time..everytime we go up we always get one..everyone in my family has one hung around their rearview mirror but we have a couple extra around the house and Molly takes them and puts them around her arm like purses...she found where my grandpa keeps them and just kept putting them on..it was hilarious..we of course put them back but she was so excited.
